Friends of Children need lots of help during the holidays to provide gifts for our children and also at the beginning of the year to help support our major fundraiser, the Superhero Run. Want to become an advocate for a child? More than one thousand abused and neglected children become the subject of judicial proceedings each year. Guardians Ad Litem are volunteer child advocates that represent the best interests of the child in court. A Guardian Ad Litem does not have to be a lawyer, counselor, therapist, or parent to make a difference in the life of a child. Consider donating your talent and using your unique skills or talents to help others. When you donate your "talent" you are taking advantage of your unique capabilities to help a nonprofit. Do you love communications? Work as a PR professional? Have marketing or social media experience? Have experience planning an event? Are you a runner who wants to plan a 5k? Do you want to be involved in an organization that helps children? If you said YES to any of the above, Friends of Children needs YOUR help! For more information on how you can be involved contact:

You can make a huge difference to the lives of others when you contribute treasure to Friends of Children of Brevard. Donating treasure can take many forms, such as contributing cash or goods. Take a look at our wishes list on this website to see what items we are collecting for our children in need by clicking here.

Consider throwing all of your loose change in a jar for the calendar year, and then donating that money to our non-profit. You won’t even miss it. Bigger donations certainly work, too. Your generosity will send a child to summer camp or buy them new pair of sneakers. Our Guardian ad Litem Volunteers submit their children’s needs and then we have to decide which ones we can fulfill. It gets difficult when we have to say “No” to requests. Many of these children have lost so much more than just their homes and families… they have lost hope. Help keep the hope alive. Donate now by clicking here.

All of your donations work for our cause right here in Brevard County and are fully tax deductible.

About the Guardian ad Litem Program

Thousands of abused, abandoned and neglected children become the subject of judicial proceedings each year in Florida. Their voices are often unheard and best interests overlooked in the complicated and overburdened adversary process. Guardians ad Litem (GAL) are citizens who volunteer to become part of a court program to represent the best interests of an assigned child. The volunteer Guardian ad Litem is a representative for the child before the court, social service agencies and the community. He/she also protects the child during the family crisis, court proceedings, and follows the child’ progress.

About Friends of Children of Brevard

Friends of Children funds clothing, beds, bikes, computers, diapers, school supplies, luggage, holiday gifts, duffle bags and other items not provided by government agencies. We also provide these children with some basic opportunities and access to normal childhood activities.
