When our vulnerable and traumatized children have unmet needs Friends of Children steps in. We depend on the child’s volunteer to let us know when a child is in need and request funding for their child or children. Funding requests may be made when financial hardship is created for the caregiver in providing for the child’s need or a child’s basic needs are unmet. Requests can also be made to provide normalcy for a child.
Here is the breakdown of our funding so far in 2020:
Examples of items that we have funded:
- Clothing, including underwear, shoes and jackets
- Beds, bedding, and furniture such as dressers & desks
- Cribs, car seats, strollers, high chairs, potty seats, baby items and needs
- Household Items including emergency food
- School expenses including school uniforms, school supplies, sports fees, field trip expenses and other needs
- Personal items, hygiene supplies, toiletries
- Summer, spring break & sport camps and swim lessons
- Lessons, sports fees and sports equipment
- Craft kits, games, flash cards, and books
- Bikes and accessories
- Electronics for learning or communicating
If your child has a need for funding, please submit your request on the Friends of Children website: FriendsOfChildrenOfBrevard.org. The funding request form is under the resources tab.
