Each year, Friends of Children reaches out to the community to purchase gifts for the children in our Guardian ad Litem program. Last year we received over 3,000 gifts from our generous supporters which truly brightened the lives of many children in need.
This year’s holiday season might look a little different due to the pandemic that has shattered our world. With so many businesses closed or working reduced hours, employees working from home, and countless people unemployed or furloughed, we are going to approach local businesses and organizations a little differently than we have in the past. Our approach will consist of virtual shopping lists as well as traditional Angel trees and cards. We need to be flexible to ensure we can provide gifts to as many children as possible.
To help facilitate this process, we will ask Guardians to select gifts from a menu of items that have been assembled by age group. We can then more easily publish gift lists on-line through Amazon, Walmart or Target as well as provide Angel cards for places that have foot traffic and willing participants. Our timeline is similar to years past, so be expecting to see information on how to select gifts for your child(ren) in September.
We appreciate your patience and support while we work out the process and logistics for our 2020 holiday project.
