Looking for a rewarding board position supporting children in our community? We would love to talk to you.
The Board of Directors of Friends of Children of Brevard County, Inc. would like to invite you to learn more about becoming a member of our Board of Directors. We are honored by your interest in helping our children, and we believe that increasing community member participation in our Board of Directors would greatly help support and further our mission.
Friends of Children is a community-based 501©(3) nonprofit formed to support and raise funds for local abused children. Thousands of abused and neglected children become the subject of judicial proceedings under Dependency Court each year in Florida. These children are oftentimes removed from their parental homes and placed in relative care or foster homes until the Court decides their future. Their only advocate is the Court-appointed Guardian ad Litem, whose job it is to ensure the welfare of the child and to make recommendations to the Court what is in the child’s best interest.
Friends of Children board members are responsible for overseeing the mission and strategic direction of our organization. Board members must be willing to attend requisite meetings, follow through on commitments, and participate fully in the decision-making process for our organization. The board also represents the organization in the community and solicits support in achieving goals. Board Members must be willing to support Friends of Children of Brevard by sharing their time, talent, treasure, or ties to help us deliver on the promise of our mission and vision. The roles are unpaid, voluntary positions.
