Handlebars for the Holidays 2017 – BCSO Bike Giveaway

                                                                      Handlebars for the Holidays 2017

The Brevard Sheriff’s Office will be donating bicycles, helmets and locks to children assigned to the GAL program. They have contacted our nonprofit, Friends of Children, to put together a list of children in need who would benefit from a bicycle. Each child receiving a bicycle must be present and receive his/her bicycle in person on December 9(time to be announced) and they must have a way to transport it.  No one cannot pick up the bicycles without the child present.

The giveaway will happen on Saturday, December 9 (time to be announced) at the Brevard County Sheriff’s Work Farm (2955 Pluckbaum Dr., Cocoa). The sheriff will have stations set up for sign-in, proper fitting of helmets, and instructions for the kids on basic bike maintenance. Please check with caregivers before putting in a request because each child receiving a bicycle must be present to receive his/her bicycle in person and they must have a way to transport it.

At this time, we are not sure how many bikes will be available so getting a bike from the sheriff is not guaranteed, but they will do their best to support our children. Requests must be received by  Sunday, November 19.
